Magnolia Manor Bring Home Olympic Medals
Magnolia Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was proud to participate in this year’s LNHA Region 6 Nursing Home Olympics in Bossier City.
The event is a series of athletic, Olympic-style events that have been adapted to the abilities of nursing facility residents. Since its inception in 1983 by the Louisiana Nursing Home Association (LNHA), this event has provided an arena for seniors to remain physically active, to socialize with peers, to compete and experience the excitement of winning. The events include Socrates trivia test, shot put and discus throw, bean bag toss, horseshoes, and a chariot (wheelchair) race. Additionally, a spirit award is given to the facility that shows the most team support and awards are given to the facilities with the best facility banner and table/booth decoration.
Our Magnolia Manor athletes did an amazing job and brought home several medals. Winners include:
- Banner – 3rd place out of 23 competing facilities
- Mike Smith – 2nd place – Shot Put; 3rd place – Discus
- James Johnson – 1st place – Horseshoes
- Angie Davenport – 1st place – Bean Bag
We couldn’t be more proud of our winners and our incredible staff who encouraged, supported, and helped make this amazing day possible!

Central Management facilities Garden Park, Magnolia Manor, and Southern Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center partnered with Dream Flights to honor our residents who bravely served our country with the adventure of a lifetime: a flight in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train many military aviators in the late thirties and early forties.
